Does time at 2x change tire ware?

Ok, I just ran a brief test and think I've found a way to drive without aggravating my foot so I'm going to give it a shot. It costs a bit of feel and some ability to modulate the throttle, but I just ran 5 laps with no pain, kept it on the track for the most part, and was on pace so I'll call it good.

Now the real question: will my new network play nice with TJ or not.

It does in that it affects cloud cover and track temps, but other than that, no.

Welcome Andrew. If you’re around tonight, you’re more than welcome to join the fray. We’re an easy going group... except Dean, watch out for him devil

Unless you want to test cars before committing, there’s really no harm in running laps. We try to stay out of each other’s way, that doesn’t always work. Other times we try to stay in each other’s way, that doesn’t always work either.

I will try and get the room open early and send invites out.

Since TJ and I apparently can't be in the same room and I probably should be resting my foot instead of racing I decided to bail.  It's getting a bit frustrating to have a car and setup that's competitive and not be able to participate.  I'll keep trying to partake but may start playing with some other cars since I have the Merc figured out and am likely out of contention as it is.

We really need to figure out why you and TJ conflict with each other.  There has to be a reason.

Yeah, it is strange, but there seems to be some sort of interlock  between us  i appreciate you bowing out and letting me race though  i know that sucks to miss out

I had a good race till the last couple laps. I had finally built up a gap on that ringer AI driver. Just had to bring it home, but got sloppy. Took out a bollard in the loop, then spun the next lap to let AI through, then spun again the next lap to let Dean through

Watching the replay it sure looks like I need to tighten my car up or maybe just stop sliding it around so much.

I'm NAT 3, and nothing I've done has changed that. I think it's my ISP.

From what I am reading that should be changeable in the router it is not changeable in the PS4. If TJ is also a NAT three or a NAT two you will not play nice with each other. Reading things it looks like NAT three only plays nice with NAT one.

I'm NAT 2.  I thought that was what I wanted and NAT 1 means the PS4 is in a DMZ.

Can you guys post as much of your network information as possible here (provider, router brand, PS4 configuration, etc.)?  I’m going to see if I can get someone from SMS to weigh in on our troubles.

Sauce and I could try to meet up in GT Sport and see if we can coexist there. Then we would know whether this is a PSN issue or SMS issue.

It's 100% my ISP. I have spent hours trying every NAT type 3 to type 2 fix that Google gave me to no avail. I eventually tried bypassing my router and used the direct feed from the modem and it was still type 3.

Until this thing with TJ I thought it wasn't really an issue with the PS4, but I was wrong. I'll give them a call at lunch today and see what they say.

Ok, something blew up at work so I didn't get a chance to call at lunch, I'll try this evening and see what happens.

Algarve is a fun roller coaster of a track. Best I can tell so far with limited laps there is that there seems to be multiple lines available in several of the corners. I've only run some practice laps so far and haven't tried a race yet, but it is a fun track. I'm working on getting the rear end to be more planted. So far I cannot induce understeer no matter what I try, but I have been making small changes.

Also, I've only driven in this game using the cockpit view and I am playing on a 32" screen. I have my FOV set to 55 which is a bit restrictive in what I can see, but seems to help me be consistent. I think there is something about getting the FOV close to reality so your brain can interpret things correctly.  Based on math, I should be at 49 FOV, but that didn't let me see enough, so I bumped it up to 55.

I am thinking I will go pick up a larger screen so I can increase my FOV. It would be nice to see more than the left half of my windshield and maybe even a side mirror or the entire rear view mirror.

Mrs T.J. scoffed at the idea, but looks like I can get a 43" tv for under $300 and she is out of town for the weekend......a 43" screen the same distance from my eyes would let me go up to 63 degree FOV.

If you haven't messed with this setting, it is worth a try. There are online calculators to figure out the optimal FOV setting for your screen size and distance from your eyes.

At what phase of the corner are you having issues with?

In reply to e30Matt :

It feels like oversteer mid corner on higher speed corners is what I want to try to tune out. Oversteer at corner exit is more an issue with my throttle control I think. I may adjust the TC setting a bit to allow less slip and see what that does for the exits or just learn to be more patient with my throttle application.

For mid corner try increasing the preload on the diff. For corner exit you can try lowering the rear a couple mm.

I've increased the preload, added more clutch packs and lowered the ramp angles. But just making incremental changes. I know if the preload gets to a point the steering gets really heavy and I then I go down one setting from that. I don't want a 30 minute race to be a workout. I guess I should get the car to handle as I want it and then adjust FFB settings if it takes too much effort on the wheel.

I haven't tried changing rear ride height. I'll give that a try after working with the diff more.

Try increasing your ramp angles. I think I'm running something like 30 for coast and 80 for power.

My biggest help with tuning for mid corner out acceleration was finding the balance with my rear bar and rear wing. If I remember I added a click or two of rear wing and also ended up softening the rear bar a bit.  This really helped calm the car down and let’s me hammer down earlier. It does require more precise driving.

Another thing with the Bentley is in some corners the car handles much better if you are up one gear from where you think you should be. The corner at silver stone before the back strait was an example of this as were the two right handlers before start finish. Put it in the lower gear would actually cause wheel spin that the TC could not keep under control and the back tires brake loose and around you go. Also with the los of traction and sliding the back end you are getting much less forward drive. On the corner before the back strait it was the difference between not topping out 5th gear or getting well into 6th gear. This equates to a big MPH difference.
