My only beef with Buells is that unless you are 5'8" and 135 lbs you look like an idiot on them. Too short/tall for my liking.

Without a rider they look awesome. I saw a fat guy my size riding one and nearly went into the ditch I was laughing so hard.

Slight thread jack.

I was looking a H.D. with a buddy (a 1200 something or other) and i asked the dealer what kind of HP these bikes made. My jaw fell open when he told me around 80ish . I know the Buell's use the same motors with some differences but what kind of HP numbers do these bikes make. The H.D. website doesn't say. 80 something just seems horrible for the displacement and fuel economy these bikes get.

Harley's are all about torque, not HP. That said air-cooled Buells are 100ish at the crank stock. Torque is 85-90 as I recall too.

These bikes generally get much better mileage than a 600cc supersport.

I typically get around 40+mpg on my older tube frame Buell's. The XB series may be a bit more thirsty as I've noticed that injected bikes of all makes don't get as good a gas mileage as the older carb'ed models.

My friend with a late model 1200 Sportster (EFI, etc., mostly stock beside pipes, maybe an air cleaner and chrome EVERYTHING,) gets about 55 MPG. Dr.Linda's 883 has got 100 MPG before, repeatedly, in the mountains when it was totally stock. 90's was pretty common back then. About 45 now, but I could lean out the megasquirt with some more tune time and get that back into the 50's. Just haven't had the time and it is running well, so I leave it alone. A windshield kills the MPG's.
