What do you guys think of the CB750? These seems to be everywhere and can be had for near a grand for a running example.

I had CB400F, CB550F and CB750F Super Sports. They were all great, but the 550 was by far my favorite.

There is a 350f on eBay near now. I'd love to bring it home, but I am not able to drop the money now.

The Honduh 750 is the bike that killed the entire English motorcycle industry, plus 90%+ of the American motorcycle industry, leaving only HD surviving, barely, until Regan imposed import tariffs on Honduh and HD extricated itself from the death grip of AMF and built a decent bike. So, yeah, it's a good bike.

The old SOHC in '69 or the DOHC in '78? The latter is probably fine but heavy and underpowered by today's standards.

The SOHC 750s seem to run about twice that around here. I had one that I made from a basket case (missing parts and fenders covered in leather?!) Into a sweet cafe bike. I sold it to fund another project and still regret it.

This. The SOHC one is pretty iconic and was a really good bike for the time, the DOHC is, well, meh.

I've seen reasonably decent SOHCs out here for 2k-3k, the DOHC ones are cheaper so I'm guessing we're talking about those. In that case, I'd suggest getting the DOHC 900 instead, it's a better bike. Or skip the whole Honda part and get a GPz750 or GPz900, they're IMHO a better bike.

Re the SOHC bikes, I'd also look at the 500/550, they're nice bikes and I tend to prefer them over the 750 as they're lighter, more agile and not that much slower.

The DOHC bikes use bucket shims and they are much more difficult when it comes time to adjust the valves. Unless the dealership adjusted them, assume that they've never been done. The single cam valve adjustment is fun and thereputic.

I've always had a thing for the cb750f superbike racers but I would love to have a cb750 cr replica sitting right next to it in the garage so it's a toss up for me

Somebody built a SOHC red, white and blue street tracker that was unreal. THAT would be something I'd love to have in my garage.

If your looking at the DOHC CB 750s don't rule out the late '70s Suzuki GS 750 too. I've ridden them back to back and preferred the Zuk.

Got the carbs off an 82 CB750 sitting in the shed. They need to go.

I eBay'd a set of 81 carbs a while back and they brought a lot more than I expected.

In reply to Woody:

I keep tossing them up on CL. They were good when they come off a few years back. Likely just need a rebuild and all that comes with the rebuild.

I have my 1993 CB750 Nighthawk. Had it since 1998. GREAT bike. They run forever with minimal maintenance. They're easy to ride and fairly comfortable.
