I'm doing a project putting a 1979 CB650 engine on an off road go kart. What I need to know is what the chain size (like #35 for example) is so I can match it with the correct driven sprocket.
Thanks.

Just a guess, but I would guess it came with a 520.

Pretty standard chain for bike back in that era.

Looking at CB650 chains for sale online it appears they used a 530.

Thanks! Can you provide a link? I looked forever and only found chains that noted the application without the size.

Here's one link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/400760092668

After I saw that I searched on "CB650 530 chain" and got a lot more links that indicate 530 is indeed the correct size.

If you are changing the sprockets, you can get them to whatever size chain you want. A lot of track bikes go from a street 530 to a track 520 for lightness and less worry about long term durability.

In reply to former520: Thanks. I need to get educated on chains/sprockets.
