I took the basic new rider MSF class last year and have since put about 4000 mile on my bike riding.

I feel very confident by myself and riding with a passenger.

I know that you never stop learning as well but i was wondering if anyone had experience with the MSF experienced rider course.

Thoughts? input?

Yep, I took it - partially because it offers an easy way here in NV to get your m/c endorsement and partially because having someone else assess your riding helps because you will pick up bad habits.

I definitely recommend it, I really enjoyed the course and I'll probably go back in a couple of years as a refresher.

Agreed, the more education you can get the better off you'll be. I've been riding dirtbikes since I was 7 and on the road since I was 20 and I constantly find myself learning something. I even retook the basic MSF with my wife while she was getting her endorsement and it was very refreshing.

I'm thinking of the Advanced class this summer....I work with an instructor. She was telling me about one-handed weaves, Full Dressers in the slaloms, etc

I took the Advanced Class a few years ago when work decided if you didn't have professional training, you couldn't ride here.

I convinced the Safety Nazi that most everyone here (older) is an experienced rider and it would be better to take the Advanced Course.

The Advanced is half the price and only one day, not two.

As luck would have it, I purchased my BMW R-1100rt just prior to the course, so it was the first time I really got to flog a fat chick. My previous bike was a K-100 which I was really dialed into. It was good. One instructor rode a Gold Wing, whodda thunk you could do that with a Wing?

I would take it again. The only misgiving I had was doing figure eights in one parking space. Standing on one peg and slipping the clutch like a dirt bike, everything smelled like hot burning clutch. Didn't like that.

Great course. Took it years ago, would recommend anyone taking yearly if you can. It's great having someone else watch you do things like hard braking, steering lock turning and such. You might already be able to stand the bike up on its nose, but with some coaching you might stand it up harder, and you will be even more confident with it.

Great course.

IIRC the course is about $130 if that sways you.
