I ran across this and thought it may be helpful. There seems to be a lot of interest in cafe looking bikes, but the proper shape and sizing of the seat will make or break the project. http://cx500forum.com/index.php?/topic/8981-cafe-seat-fabrication-w-lrcx/ Hope this can help!

LOVE the idea of using the back section of a gas tank for the cowl! Its so simple even I could make it look half decent...

Fiberglass is dead simple.

Spray glue, foam from Home Depot, bread knife, electric sander are the tools needed to get here -

Foil, packing tape, wax -

Mix resin and fiberglass mat from autozone (or carbon in my case). Use a few disposable paint brushes to work it.

Bondo, sand, paint

I agree that the DIY fiberglass/carbon posted is gorgeous, but all I can say is wow for the guy who came up with the hard hat idea, that is genius...
