So I am currently in the market for a new helmet after I unfortunatly had to use mine the other week. I was running an Arai Vector 2 and loved it. More than likely I will end up getting another Vector 2, but just curious if anyone here has experience with either the AGV GP-Tech or AGV Grid. I have tried both on and they fit about as well as the Arai did. To make it better a local dealer has them on sale for less than $500, so cheaper than the Arai. Plus who wouldn't want to have Valentino Rossi graphics on their helmet?!

I've not tried on those models but my two older AGV's are the quietest helmet i've ever worn. I realy miss using them but there old and plain worn out inside from many a miles

I can't comment on any of the helmets that you mentioned, but I will say that in general you get what you pay for with motorcycle helmets. I've never crash tested one a road bike helmet, but I can say that my shoei(s) were comfortable, quite, and aged well. I also had an HJC, which seemed to be a copy of a shoei design, but eas nowhere near as nice.

IIRC, AGV is not exactly a bargain brand helmet, so test fit them and see how they feel.

I have a Bell Arrow helmet, also never "field tested" the unit but the helmet fits well and has held up to many miles of riding.

If you want a more race spec helmet why not look at the HJC RPHA it's what Jorge Lorenzo and Ben spies are wearing, I tried one on it was super nice. it was on par with my shoei I would say and the price is under 500$ as well.

A friend of mine ran a bike clothing shop for a while and he wasn't too taken with the build quality of the AGVs - he'd rather sell you a Shoei or an Arai. Not that the AGV wouldn't protect your bonce if need be, but I remember he had a lot of issues with small parts that would break and needed replacement.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Schuberth, but they're, shall we say, "not cheap". My S1 (not available in the US) is finally worn to the extent that it wants replacement (this modern stuff just doesn't last, it's only about ten years old) so now that you can get a DOT-legal S2 I'll probably get down to the BMW bike dealer in Reno and buy a replacement. Quietest helmet I've ever owned.

I will have to check out the RPHA helmet. My brother has the last gen RPHA and I know he really likes it. I guess I have always disregarded HJCs for some reason. I am not too concerned with price but would prefer to stay around the $500 mark and I think all of these helmets fit around there. I haven't heard that much with AGV products so I am glad to hear both positive and negative comments or personal experiences with them.
