and the 18 Collectible Cars article got me wondering... What would the 2-wheeled equivilants to those cars be? 1969 CB750? First year H2 Kaw? Oval piston Honda? 1973 Z-1? DT1 Yamaha? 500 Gamma Suzuki? 1986 GSX-R?

1982 Kawasaki KZ1000R1 Eddie Lawson Replica and 1983 Honda CB1100F, yes, I have both. GS1000-1100s Katana and VF 750F are good ones too

It will depend somewhat on your age and your favorite brand. Most motorcycle manufacturers have had their share of iconic bikes in different eras - personally I'm attracted to Suzukis from the 1970s and early 1980s. I do have a 1982 Katana, among others. By the way, the one in the pic above is not an original - I think it may be a 250cc or 400cc Japanese market bike from the 1990s, they made and re-made that bike more than once for their domestic market.

Original Katanas, unfortunately, simply haven't maintained their value. I see them frequently for less than $4000.

Good question on the bikes. I don't want to give it all away, but we have something in the works that might answer some of those questions.

Hands down a sand cast CB750. Maybe a RD400 Daytona. First year V-Max.

the more interesting question is why the Japanese bikes just don't seem to attain the same "halo" status as do the classic British bikes or Harleys. If you start with auctions ending with six digits, how many Japanese bikes can you think of as compared to the others?
