Hi folks. It has been a while since I have posted so here is a short update.

Last summer after having nearly every imaginable repair done to my Kawasaki KZ1300 six cylinder bike I found I could not stop safely without it literally falling over and being nearly impossible to set back up. In desperation to keep riding I found a Suzuki 650 Burgman scooter. I put about 2,000 miles on this really neat bike in three months. Both the scooter and the Kawasaurus have been stored on battery maintainers all winter.

The big bike does not start. Starter turns and there is spark so I have concluded the modern gas has fouled the carbs despite using stabilizer. I realize the proper thing to do is pull the carbs and clean them out. Do any of you know any shortcuts that might work?

I have two alternatives for this bike. I would prefer to keep it and use the recently revives riding skills to keep it upright but I also realize the proper thing to do would be to sell it to a good home. So anyone interested in discussing this please E-mail me at:

Do the proper thing. Half baked attempts or shortcuts just cause trouble. Especially on a bike where if your motor dies out on the road you don't have a big metal cage around you.

If pulling the carbs and doing irt right takes 4 hours and doing a halfass job takes only 1.5; you'll have 5.5 hours invested before you're done.

One tip for dealing with Japanese carbs - if you have a good impact screwdriver, use it on the little yellow Philips head screws on the carb when you take it apart. Then replace them with Allen-head stainless steel screws when you put it back together.
