So what started as a general interest in learning to ride, mostly because of how cool dual sports are, has now gone full circle.

I was pretty sure I wanted some kind of small displacement dual sport or standard to learn on, and then graduate to a larger dual sport.

But then I started thinking how nice it would be to have a pit bike for autocrosses, national tours and pro solos. A friend of mine wants a Ruckus, but because I'm cooler and cheaper, I decided I wanted some sort of Super Cub derivative. I've been able to find a couple on Craigslist in the $500-$1500 category, but they've been snapped up quickly or in not quite as running condition as I'd prefer. Also, in Ohio, I'd need my motorcycle endorsement anyway for Cub, so I might as well get an actual motorcycle, right?

Then I found this 19KE100. Bright orange, looks good, runs, new new, spark plug, points, condenser, runs. Owner says street legal (not sure; I want to confirm that two-strokes and Ohio are still OK, 1980 street legal and 2012 street legal are different).

Would certainly be more bike than a Cub, but is still pretty small. Might be annoying as a pit bike, but would have the added benefit of being more useful should I want to leave the site.

Thoughts?

Two-strokes in Ohio are street legal as long as you have the title and proper headlight/taillight/etc.
