I picked up a 1978 Garelli moped, last year, for $100 . I had a lousy wrenching session, on sunday, and needed a win. I hauled the moped out. Put on a new rear tire, that I've had hanging on the wall for the better part of a year, and cleaned the carb. It fired up after a bit of fiddling and I took it for a quick run. I got the lights and horn working as well.
The use of the horn or lights affects the top speed and the use of both at the same time has the same effect as hitting the brakes. Just way too much fun.
haha pretty neat lil thing.
what IS the top speed?
Throw a kit on that bitch.

According to the GPS on my phone I've had it up to 25mph. I'm assuming that was on the downhill run cause it wasn't close to that on the way up. In all fairness I don't think they had a 6'1" 235lb middle aged guy in mind when they designed it.

So keep it WFO and use the horn and lights to slow down.
Like a bip switch on WWI rotary engines.
