Cushman. Lambretta. Vespa and many others have made enclosed three wheel delivery/utility vehicles, and India is a country built on such vehicles.

I was hoping to see what it would take to get some thing similar on the road. City streets, not freeway most likely. Its enclosed so its got an element of weather protection which is neat. I would imagine that its good on fuel and its unique and neat.
Thing is i wanna build something using existing parts and put em together to create this. Although from time to time old Cushmen trucksters do pop up cheap. Use a bit more modern engine/ brakes to have a eye catching around town vehicle.
I get that its a primitive thing and i get it. thats fine.
I believe it could still be licensed as a motorcycle so that is even better.
Again. Just think it would be neat as all get up to drive 3/4 of the year.

Since it has 3 wheels it can be licensed as a motorcycle in Ohio.
There's a repair shop locally that uses one as a delivery vehicle. Looks like a blast.
Licensing those as a motorcycle is going to vary by state. Many states will only allow one to be registered as a low speed vehicle (IIRC max speed is limited).

i keep reading ohio laws when i can find an answer that kinda fits and i just confused all over again. is there a simple version of the laws haha? or at least all trike stuff compiled in one area.
I've actually considered building a reverse trike and registering it as a motorcycle in Ohio, but haven't studied the rules in detail. I figured a scooter engine/swingarm assembly in the rear, and a heavily modified front suspension from a 2wd quad, combined with a custom built chassis could be pretty fun, if a little slow. Might even be able to get pretty good mileage if it sits low enough.
Your choice in vehicle would be dictated by what you are delivering.

914 Driver....that would be awesome!
But already its getting to be a large vehicle.
The three wheel cushmans, tuktuks, and so on are small which is the appeal to me. most of my driving and errand running is alone. figured make it fun, economical and unique if im going to do it.
One of those little Kei trucks might be easier.

Those would be great as runabouts. I see a local car dealer has ex-parking enforcement cushmans. I like them things, wonder why there aren't more out there. Really one of those things is all you need.
