MSF passed, and...

Not gonna do it. I had a good time, and I learned a lot. I thought I wanted a bike. I'm glad I took the course before I bought a bike.

I just can't come up with one reason, upon opening the garage and seeing a car and a bike, to take the bike. I guess I just like cars.

On the upside, taking and passing the MSF course counts to my insurance company as "Safe Driver Training", so I get a small discount on my auto insurance.

If you are now qualified to get the licence, get it. You don't have to ever use it, but having it makes it much easier if some time you decide you want to ride something.

I had a CB750 engine sitting around for a while. I was going to build a buggy for it. Just not a bike guy. Still have the carb rack... if anyone... no? ok.

This is a great reason for taking the course, above and beyond the safety aspect. A lot cheaper than buying the bike first, too. :)

Years ago I took scuba lessons. It was something I always wanted to try, and I enjoyed the class, but I realized after it was over that it wasn't something I really wanted to continue.

There are a lot of people who think of motorcycling as a way of saving money, but in reality, riding involves a lot of sacrifices, both realized and potential. You really have to love it to partake in it.

You never know when your opinion might change. I didn't give a hoot about motorcycles for over 30 years. Then, in the last couple of years, I started reading ADVrider.com and the light bulb finally came on. Now I can't get enough riding. For me, it's a little different than a lot of guys; I'm really not into bikes. I'm into riding. Brand, type, etc has little significance to me. The personal, quiet time I enjoy on the bike is what it's all about for me. It's become a perfect solution to my mid-life not-quite-a-crisis.

Yes....I need a running CB750 engine for my cousins bike.

My wife came to the same conclusion, before taking the MSF. Her heart just wasn't in it and she felt that she would not be a safe rider. THAT is the time to make the decision, not after you are riding something you don't feel safe on. (or looking at something sitting in the garage collecting dust)

I agree with everything that's been said to this point. On top of that, I've always felt after I've completed all of the MSF courses I've taken that I also became a better car driver for it...

I love riding. Sadly most of the time it just doesn't make sense to ride to my destination.

Man, I always found excuses to ride to my destination. My car just become a very cold weather and storm vehicle. I sold it b/c I couldn't justify paying the insurance on it when I never drove.

I miss my bike every time spring and fall roll around... but the practicality of owning one wins out... and the idea of riding in the middle of the the 100* summer in gear isn't all that fun sounding... and the random rain/showers here in FL kinda made riding not as fun... so if I got one now it would be a fair weather toy... and to be honest if I had to choose i'd get a miata...

but maybe i'll snag one again down the road... and yes deciding before you bought one is good :)... i'm always amazed at how many bikes you can find with under 1k miles on em because someone went out and bought one and got scared so sold it (er at least used to be....before they required MSF in FL)

I got a bike to hold me off until I have money for a Miata.

Hence why I don't see spending more than $1000 on a bike.

I have a Miata and three bikes. Life is good.
