I have wanted a CBR 600rr since they were new. Found this one locally on The List. Need your opinions. Good or bad?

Alright, the time has come to sell my 2006 Honda CBR 600RR. I hate to do it but due to starting a new business... A) I dont have the time for it, and B) the money could be put to better use for funding my business. ALL REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED!! Dont be shy! But at the same time, I ask that you please be respectful... Trades of equal value are possibly entertained as well... MANY extra stock parts will come with it!! (about a box's worth including fairing pieces not pictured on the bike) I'll also include a pair of new Alpinestar leather gloves if they fit the buyer - Title in hand - All service papers and purchase papers included - All manuals included - The stock tool kit included - Spare key included As mentioned its a 2006 model and its got some modifications done to it :) The mods are as follows: - Chain and sprocket kit ( its -1/+1 ) geared for quicker acceleration - Galfer Superbike SS brake lines - EBC HH sintered brake pads - BREMBO RCS19 Racing Adjustable Master Cylinder - Euro Racing Adjustable throttle kit - Pazzo shorty billet clutch lever - Michelin Pilot Power tires with about 75% tread left - High flow filter - Vortex Racing Billet clip-ons (handle bars) - Renthal medium grips - Integrated tail-light - Fender Eliminator - Mirrors with integrated signals - A set of brand new frame sliders that will come with it (never installed) - Its got swingarm spools installed for a rear stand What it has done to it makes it a GREAT candidate for a track bike, and also makes it one of the sickest street bikes on the road- whichever way you choose, you wont be disappointed!! ESPECIALLY in this price range!! With the gearing, off the line, you'll be an unexpected surprise for any 750's and 1000's- it accelerates EXTREMELY quick! The only thing..... its not 100% at the moment. I bought this bike from a good friend last year and was planning on converting it to a track bike, and upgrading many of the stock parts (which from the list of mods, you can see that I made some progress LOL) Just like I said though; unfortunately with trying to grow the new business in this economy, the bike had to fall to the wayside. I'd really like to see this go to someone who will get some enjoyment out of it- unfortunately at the moment that person is not me and its just been in my garage for a while To get it to a road going streetbike it will need a few parts and about a day's worth of work to install them. The bike is actually EXTREMELY easy to work on so installing the remaining needed parts should REALLY only take a couple hours with a standard set of tools- pretty simple really. Here's what it needs: - Killswitch - Rearsets (footpegs) - Fairing stay - Windscreen - Mid-fairing stays - Speedo (gauge cluster) - Headlights - Front/upper fairing Ive done the research and this is less than $1000 in parts. NOT BAD! That with about 3 hours of work and youve got a SICK modded and unique 2006 CBR for less than $4400! I'll also be changing all fluids on the bike for the new owner since it hasnt been cranked in a while. I'll throw in a new battery The bike will need to be picked up since it cannot start without a gauge cluster and start switch- and it cannot be ridden without rearsets (footpegs). Arrangements can be made if necessary to get a speedo and killswitch installed prior to buying... Any questions or picture requests are welcome MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Makes me nervous. If your heart is set on this then go with it, but talk to your head too. I would run away but it's not my fantasy

What's a CBR 600rr without all the mods going for?

For less than half his asking price you can find plenty of bikes that'll scare the crap outta you.

My fantasies are different....

The one thing that has me wondering is that if the seller has started converting it into a track bike, where are all the parts that he's taken off that it now needs?

It is ugly and will kill your back.

Sorry can't help, not a sportbike guy. Which is kind of odd as I ride a road bicycle. I like the lead with the head thing with pedals but not with an engine. Before you think cruiser I don't like leading with my feet either. I like a good touring bike.

I was going to say Doo eet!, however I think you could find a stock 2003 or 2004 for a similar price that does not require the work. I had an 04 in Candy Blue and it was a blast. The 2003/2004 do not have USD forks and weigh a smidge more but unless you are flogging it on a track you will not see the difference on the street. Watch carefully for accident damage as these seem to attract 18 year olds as a first bike but it is possible to find one in good shape.

Ya, im definitely being cautious. I dont need anything bigger than a 600, and i really like those CBRs in that layout. Well, he is interested in the Jetta, so we will see where this leads...

I would look really hard at the prices of the replacement parts. Not having accurate mileage may make it difficult to sell in the future. If he is so interested in funding his business, why does he want a trade?

$4400 is an awful lot for a lump that he can't prove works. I would offer way less; his interest in selling is probably a lot more than your interest is in buying.

Can't start it, can't ride it - I'd lowball the living hell out of him as it sits. Insultingly low. This worked surprisingly often at my old shop. You're not trying to make a friend, you're trying to score a deal. Worst he can say is no. But you gotta do it in person, with cash to wave under his nose. I wouldn't pay a dime over $2k for that bike. (Think about what $2k gets you in another bike - or, say, a Challenge car.) I'd start at $1750.

Lowball him, but tell him your offer changes if you can run it and ride it. That's a very different scenario.

It's a pile of unknowns, and it could wind up costing a lot more money than he optimistically claims.

Another thing to keep in mind: his 'upgrade' list is long on quantity, short on quality. The only functional parts he lists are brake m/c, lines and pads. The rest is cosmetic. And not expensive. The parts the bike needs, however, are not cheap new, not available in the aftermarket, and not terribly easy to score used.

There are a lot of CBRs out there. Remember the Greater Fool theory - and don't be the greater fool.

...for example.

I remember seeing a bunch of RRs on racingjunk.com while I was browsing through there .the other day.
