There's going to be a scooter race at a nearby go kart track in August. I probably won't compete, but I am thinking of heading up to watch.
Looks like the saying of "more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" can be modified to "more fun to drive a slow anything fast than a fast anything slow".
We need to organize spec scooter. Think about it. For around $2k, you can go racing. This includes the craigslist scooter, the gear, the race fees, and the numbering. It could be even cheaper than The Challenge or LeMons, and you can ride the scooter to the parking lot, pay the entry fee, race, ride home, and the commute on your scooter. What more could you want?

Okay, let's raise the entry fee so that a model can wave the green, yellow, red, and checkered flags at each race.

Raise the entry fee? Tell them there is a free photoshoot for their portfolio. It may not bring in the top notch models. Just deal with the caesarean section scars.

Or maybe just get hookers... because a bunch of guys dorking out in a parking lot with scooters are all tugging a sad one out alone with their internet connection otherwise.

That could work.
Here's me from a few years ago on a TGB 150 at Sandyhook Speedway in Street, MD.
And another on a my first scoot, a chinajunk Fieying:
You can see the varied competition. Some dudes who ran a scooter shop used to show up with between 2 & 5 scooter racers. It was fun when they were there, but they eventually stopped showing up. Without any direct competition I stopped going.
Recently I hear there is a guy showing up to Njminigp.com races at NJMP on a two stroke scooter, but I haven't been over there to check it out...
Mini-moto racing is just about as cheap, there is a "Stock XR100" class, for instance, and far more popular than scooters. Check here if you are near NJ or MD:

Cool! I'm not a huge minimoto fan, as I find them too small, and that they are of limited practical use. They're still fun, but I prefer riding to the track, racing, and then riding back home. It's just so much easier than transporting a minimoto.
