The itch to tear into the Murdercycle is too much to bare. I've got a few if the prifrials and the toaster tank. Fiberglass seat and cushion are next. But the cherry on top will be a set of rear sets.

I see quite a few on E-bay. And ones for hundreds of dollars in magazines. You have a favorite? Any adaptable factory hardware? Its a $450 200cc rider, not a show bike.

Shoot me some ideas.

Lots of drinking before this post?

Nope. Deep thoughts. You wouldn't get very far if I was drunk.

What do you have available that will work brand wise, you might be stuck with eBay or that Japan motorcycle thingy.

I just picked up a set of these for my Moto Guzzi café racer. http://www.dimecitycycles.com/dcc-originals-universal-cafe-racer-fully-indexable-rearset-foot-controls.html

But I needed indexable rear sets.

If I didn't need that, I would have looked at these - http://www.dimecitycycles.com/dcc-originals-universal-cafe-racer-fully-indexable-rearset-foot-controls.html

my only complaint is that they are standard and not metric. I need to source a new, longer bolt and they have standard threads and I need standard allen keys. I would guess 99% of these were sold to go on a Japanese or European bike, so why not make them metric?

How important is adjustability? I would do a couple daily searches on your local craigslist,

"rear sets"

"gsxr parts"

And maybe "track" "track day" or "track parts" in motorcycle parts.

Pick the first set you like at a decent price and weld/modify the brackets on your frame to suit. Locally, GSXRs are the most popular track/race bike and used race parts pop up on cl from time to time, sometimes for cheap when someone gets out of the game. I have also seen some pretty nice (not always adjustable) stock rear sets on high-end sportbikes. Who knows, you might get lucky if someone else upgrades his Aprilia/Ducati/Bimota to aftermarket rear sets and decides to get rid of the stock bits.

Not a bad idea.

I just put Tarrozzi rearsets on my LeMans but they lightened my wallet by about $400

I have some stock rearsets from my '04 zx10 if you wanted to go that route.

Can you post some pics? The Twinstar uses the old school lever actuated drum on the rear, but I know a welder who can weld damn near anything. I'd rather pay you if they'll work than some CL flake.

The classic I with two backs is always good. A single tailback works well too. But I've always liked the wishbone. Your mileage may vary.

Shoot me a text to (765)623-twoeighttwotwo and I'll send you over a picture. They have ground down pegs(1.5-2" long)

My road racer RD350 has / had RASK brand rear sets but now had steel home made levers on it do to the cast alum shifter tip snapping off in t6 "the bowl" at NHMS and the brake lever snapping off in a fall in t12 last year. IMS makes steel weld on flex tips for both levers so I just used the alum units as a pattern and welded them up
