My 990 has 24k miles on it, runs well and has a ton of farkles on it. The 990R is in LA (I'm in Denver) and is basically new, only has 4k miles on it and has some nice farkles on it.
My thought process here is buy the 990R, take the farkles I want off my bike, put them on the "new" 990R, then resell my bike.
What's stopping me here is:
1 Buying a bike sight unseen.
2 All the work to wrench on the two bikes
3 Uncertainty of selling my bike and what I could get for it
I probably shouldn't worry too much about #1, the bike is basically new.
The amount of work to flip flop stuff is probably several days, nothing too hard to do.
Really its what I could get for my bike and if it would sell. It's getting closer to the end of riding season than the beginning and I'd rather not sit on two very similar bikes until the spring....
I'm my mind I'm thinking there is a $3000 delta between the two, but I would be getting a bike with 20k less miles on it than mine. It will also sell for quite a bit more in 3-4 years when I move onto another bike. So I'll probably get that price delta back in the end....
