so i was faced with the problem of securing my bike for Earl. Rather inconvinient. Where my bike is allowed to park is 20 feet from the water, protected slightly by an administratoin building and in a slight shadow of the ship 100 feet away from it. I just threw a life jacket on it for padding, put it on the centerstand, put a rock in front of the front wheel, and put the cover over it. Anyone know anything else to secure it better with my limited resources? I'm also worried about flooding and wished there was some way i could tie it down but I couldnt think of anything. Any help would be great so im not up every hour tonight walking out in a hurricane checking on it.

Any chance of wheeling it into your living room? Given the circumstances, and assuming you're in a rental property, people probably wouldn't even notice. Wait for the cover of darkness, and park it right next to the Xbox.

Nylon rope is cheap,so is duct tape. Can you back it into a corner or park it beside a big truck or something to shield it from the wind? Ride inland for a few hours and rent a cheap room?

I've done this.

Get a 6 or 8 foot 2x6, two eye bolts and three tie down straps. Put eye bolts at each end to the board, run two tie down straps from the handle bars to the eyes and another through the front spokes and around the center point of the board to keep it in place. Wrap the center strap around the board and wheel several times (individually) to keep it centered.

Good luck.

yea i'm actually stuck at school until it passes... but i didn't even think of duct tape wow. the problem with line is i have no where to tie it off too, and getting boards would be difficult. i do have it in kinda a corner formed by a building and a couple box trailers so im hoping this will help. I just hope the storm surge out of the canal isnt big enough to take over the part of the parking lot its in. great suggestions, and still seeing what i can do. thanks!!

Sometimes certain pubs have hurricane watch parties and anyone or anything is welcome, roll it inside if you can.thats a good looking scoot. My last hurricane was in Ft. Lauderdale .Rode it out in a bar soaking wet listening to Merle Haggard

Go to a Bike shop and ask for one of their crates?
