I bought a non running project bike yesterday, like total basket case. I had planned on tearing down the bike the frame and seeing what I had. If it’s salvageable I was planning on titling the bike then starting the rebuild. If I do the tear down and realize the bike isn’t worth saving I was planning on parting it and not even worrying about the title.
Is that the best option?
It all depends on how easy or hard it is to get a title wherever it is you live. (people will jump in and tell you how they get a title where they live but that doesn't matter, since every state is different.)
It also depends what size the bike is. You can easily register it in Vermont if it is under 300cc and convert that to a title in your state.
