I own an 82 KZ750 with stupid low mileage. My biggest problem is that the carbs never work right for long. Does anyone know of an interchange from the 1000 motors or similar to make it fuel injected or down to one carb from 4?

If not, I will deal with the carbs until I sell it, but it will be my main bike once I sell my CBR600RR

I had an 81 with a bad starter clutch...pop started it for years. Something must be wrong with your carbs if they don't stay in tune. For wintwer storage pull the vacuum line off the petcock and run untill carbs are dry then add marvel oil to the gas line and crank a few times. Come spring ajust conect the vacuum line to the petcock and fire it up. Smokey yes but only untill the mixutes is flushed out but it does lube the cyl after its been sitting. This alky fuel sucks try "startron" on every fill up might help keep them clean if you don't ride it every day

Does the bike sit for relatively long periods without running? You may want to run Sta-bil or similar in the gas to keep the carbs from gumming up.

Backdate it to KZ650 slide needle Mikunis. Rejet to suit a 650 running pods and open up the pilot screw 1/2 turn. 29 Mikuni smoothbores work well but ain't cheap. Manifolds and throttle cable/housing to suit. Also, try to find the CV carbs from an early 2000s ZR-750 (the air cooled one) and use a jet kit.
