There's a neat looking bike on the local craigslist for next to nothing. The ad doesn't say much... it's a 50cc yamaha and I have no idea what it is. I'd appreciate it if anyone could share some info, or at least what the model is. If i can run this thing without getting a plate/insurance it would be fun to use to get back and forth to work.

Yamaha RX-50
All I know is they share the YSR-50 motor and weigh in under 200lbs.
If you're over five feet tall, you'll look like a circus bear riding it.
As for licensing requirements, that is specific to where you live - go to your state website and dig through the laws regarding scooters and mopeds.

Bummer... MA law states that you need to be under 50cc, under 30mph, and have an automatic/cvt trans to qualify as a "moped". Not sure if I'd want to go through the trouble of getting plates, inspections, and insurance for it.
Would be fun to chop up into a mini cafe racer though!

This is the exact reason my ciao is up for sale. I caught a glimpse of myself riding it in a shop window and immediately thought "It has to go"
I have gotten so fat in my old age, I look like a circus bear on by GT380. I should make a video of me riding the bike with a disclaimer: No motorcycles were harmed while making this film.
You have to show L plates clearly on both front and backside. For 50cc you have no need of any speciall motorcycle license.
