Went shopping today ready to buy a scooter, still came home empty handed. I'll post the horrific sales experience I endured later.

In the meantime, does anyone with Ruckus experience know it's top speed with a ~200 pound rider? My research leads me to believe 35-37mph but the worst salesperson in the world claimed 25mph. I find that number hard to believe as my 25 year old Spree did better than that.

The C3 looks good. So does the Ruckus. They have a cool urban-assault/utilitarian vibe, (as opposed to the cutesy-retro-Vespa style.)

Top speed on a stock 2009 Ruckus with a 200 pound operator on a flat road is 42 mph. Confirmed yesterday.

Drop me an email if you need more info.

I have to agree, except that I really like how the old big Italian scoots look. I saw a Lambretta 250 with a four-speed that I couldn't get my eyes off of. It was yellow, too, which is perhaps my least favorite color.

I also must agree. The old Vespas were very purposeful in their engineering and design. So there wasn't anything extraneous or cutesy about them. The old Lambrettas were just sleek and slim. Nothing too cutesy their either.

The new Vespas on the other hand, and the ones that ape the look are always a bit cartoonish.

Also, I love the look of the C3. The whole front fairing being integrated with the forks and making it turn with them is brilliant.

It may be that I am easily impressed, but I find that fact impressive.

I would have guessed between 25 and 30 mph. That thing is 49 cc 4-stroke, no?

Yes, 49cc, water cooled 4 stroke.

I just missed out on another 250 Elite(Honda) because I was out of town working. It was an '86 for $250! Needed some TLC and a body panel. Sometimes I hate work.

The motor will be a GY6 50cc. The aftermarket is huge for these, but the chinese quality is hit or miss. Some are fine for thousands of miles, some break down 50ft from the dealership. (My 150cc chinajunk has 3500mi and 3 track days on it and its had a bad coil, bad cdi, and needed a new carb, otherwise it keeps on tickin')

I don't know. I could never justify to myself buying a Rukus and this from a guy who wants a Plymouth Cricket.

I like the idea of the Ruckus, but $2500. new? Maybe I'm just cheap, but that seems WAAAAAAAY overpriced.

I rode one, and I agree. An 800 dollar old used Spree seems more better. However, my MB5 was only 900 nicker, and its one of the most fun bikes I have ever ridden.
