Hopefully this isn't too obvious because it's something I only learned recently - aluminum tape, in addition to being a great cheap substitute for that costly gold heat-reflective tape, works great for all kinds of bodywork fixes because it stands up great to weather, conforms well and seals tightly to whatever you stick it to. You can even paint it just like any other bit of metal. Just apply multiple layers for strength.

I just used it to cover up a couple of rust-holes in my Samurai that I can't afford to patch right now. Wish I'd taken a before shot, but they were both big enough to stick a finger through. No rain drizzling in now!

I use this stuff all the time on the rallycross car...quick patch on plugs that get popped out, hold-down for wiring with broken tie-clips, etc. It's awesome stuff.

My F-150 has a series of holes on the inside of the rocker panel, probably about 2" in diameter. I'm assuming they were there for tool access when spot-welding the inside or something. The factory covered them with cheap fabric tape. I removed that, sprayed Fluid Film into them and covered them with aluminum tape 3 years ago. That stuff is still on there and sealed as tight as ever. It's good stuff.
