Enabler in chief Pete Gosset finally dragged a bit of bait in front of me I couldn't resist. Tomorrow I'm driving from Lexington KY to Mobile AL to buy a car that doesn't (but nearly does) run.
I just hooked up the trailer, unloaded the Zoomboni, packed a few extra tools, and am considering what is broken inside me that I'm driving 650 miles each way to buy a 29 year old car. Sigh.
And you expect us to talk you out of it ?
enablers unite :) and I have the T shirt ....

I'll wait until you're safely home to say "you're welcome" :-)
I wish you an uneventful drive!

Damn those are good looking cars
Looking forward to updates. Thats a long drive.
Is it that twin stick shift Mitsubishi econocar?

Target acquired. $600 answer. A little rough around the edges but I know these beasties pretty well at this point. No body rust!
In reply to KyAllroad :
$600 Rust free Miata, NICE!!!!
Just a couple months ago I bought a parts car for $1200.
And sold off the seats, top, finish panel, and left tail-light. Guess what Grimace needs

That is a score - even in Barney Purple.
In reply to KyAllroad :
I may have a taillight, I'll have to check my stash. I have a decent pair of seats, but those may eventually end up in the DSM.
Made it to my overnight stop. 18 hours on the road I made it a bit over halfway back home. 1,000 miles of driving while towing an enclosed trailer. Suburban and trailer have been awesome (if a bit thirsty).
Tomorrow is just 300 miles to home.

Gas stop number 4,5, 35? Who knows anymore, this is ridiculous. Ramen noodles till Christmas after this
In reply to KyAllroad :
After the first gas stop on our way to the Challenge in the RV I just stopped looking at gas prices or the total amount. Good thing we weren't planning on a big Xmas though...

Mildewed inside and out. Dead battery. Haven't even tried to start it.
Gonna power-wash the worst of the grunge off it and shove it into the garage for some examination.
Was that purple a factory color? Never seen one that shade.

Did you pay more for the car or the gas to get it?
Barney looks great
In reply to nocones :
I'm afraid to add up the receipts but I believe it was around $500 in gas.
Duster: The car was black with the tan leather interior. The purple is very aftermarket, might be plastidip or just cheap paint, some came off during power-washing.
