I know there will be plenty of us going to Daytona at the end of January to enjoy the Rolex 24.  I got rather accustomed to having dinner provided on Saturday night and last year rather missed the opportunity to sit down and break bread with friends old and new.  Rather than complain about it, I'd like to offer a solution!  While I can't offer anything anywhere near as nice as the giant circus tent in the infield, I've had my RV spot in Geico Park West, right outside of the Turn 1 tunnel for several years now and I'd like to invite the GRM forum to dinner on Saturday, January 25th.  I'm thinking 6:30pm but I'm open to suggestions.  I don't plan to bring a car this year, so there should be enough room in my spot to set up some folding tables and chairs.  And if we spill out into the street, so what - they can go a different way!  The kitchen in the RV isn't amazingly well-equipped, but I can make up a bunch of spaghetti and homemade meatballs and sauce, crack open a couple bags of salad, get a cooler of cokes and beers, and maybe even figure out some garlic bread if I'm feeling spicy.  All I ask is that you let me know if you're coming so I can be sure to bring enough food with me!

Sound like a good time?  If you don't mind, RSVP here.  I'll send out some emails and update here when we get closer and have plans a little more firmed up.  Got any better ideas?  I'm completely open to suggestions!

I don't know how I missed this originally, but I just RSVP'd for me and kid 2.  It's our first trip to the 24 and we appreciate the hospitality!

I'll probably be holed up in the media center for most of the race, but I'll RSVP anyway.

Worst case scenario, someone can enjoy my share as their seconds. smiley

I've got a handful of responses but would love to have a few more.  If you're going to be at the Rolex, come hang out with us for a minute!

My bet is very few people have seen this because of which forum its on.  I never look in this forum as I generally look at the GRM forum, the off topic forum and the builds forum.

You put it in the right place...but I wonder if the admins would be willing to move it to off topic or GRM?  I'll bet you would get a lot more eyes and therefore responses.

I also missed this until I saw the link from the other forum section. RSVP'd, hope to share a beer with you all!  On that note, can I bring some Cokes or beers earlier in the day to top off stock?

I'd love to make new friends! I won't be eating, but would love to stop by and say hi to everyone if that's fine

I'm packing up and heading out tonight, so looking forward to seeing folks down there.  Looks like it'll be about a half dozen of us - yes! absolutely stop by, even if you're not hungry or thirsty.  Or even if you didn't rsvp and you change your mind, it's still okay to swing by!  We'll do the fishes and loaves thing.

It looks like 6:30pm Saturday night is the time.

Where will we be?  My RV site is in GEICO Park West, just inside the Gate 40 entrance and near the Turn One Tunnel.  You can walk out or tram out.  It's spot A205 located here:

I'm still kicking myself for cheaping out way back when and not ponying up for an infield RV spot.  Believe it or not, there was a time when you could get one of those without having to have it bequeathed to you in a will.  The motorhome will look like this:

If you get lost or whatever, you can text me at my google voice number at 859-493-2164‬ or I'll also respond to PMs from here, of course.

No need to bring anything, but if you want to bring a beverage to share, that would be welcomed!  I've got beer, coke zero, non-alcoholic seltzers, bottles of water, and some fine aged Kentucky corn juice.

You'll need to log in to post.
