I grew up in New York--out on Long Island--and try to regularly get back to the city. I wind up there a lot in February as the hotel rates are down and there are less people to get in the way. Plus it's nice to get a taste of winter.
Mrs. Editor came with me for part of the trip. She wanted to go to the top of the Freedom Tower and, to be honest, I had mixed emotions about it. Glad we went. What a view:
While in Lower Manhattan we stopped by Bowling Green:
And we visited Battery Park, too:
Dinner? Where else but Mott Street?
Spent most of the time seeing friends and family--and, of course, enjoying a proper bagel:
I have walked across the Brooklyn Bridge several times, but never the Manhattan Bridge. So I did:
Most evenings were spent listening to jazz:

That Wednesday night, the forecast called for snow. I was supposed to fly back home Thursday morning. Before the first flakes flew, JetBlue cancelled my flight. I rescheduled for Saturday and extended my room. Wednesday night, way late, I watched the snow plows move into position:
That morning? Yep, it snowed:
So I checked out the new Second Avenue Subway stations:
And visited the dinosaurs:
