Car Catcher: A Rare GT40 MK II Continuation Model Built To Celebrate Carroll Shelby´s 85th Birthday

Sponsored Content Presented by RM Sotheby’s.

Turning 85 years old may be an achievement in itself, so what better way to celebrate that birthday than with a limited run of 85 modernized examples of one of the most influential cars in automotive history that you helped to produce?

That’s exactly where this 2008 Shelby GT40 Mk II 85th Commemorative Edition comes in. Specifically built to celebrate Carroll Shelby’s 85th birthday, only 85 examples were said to have been built.

Finished in the same livery as the one raced by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren in 1966, the GT40 also comes with a bevy of modern features like Wilwood brakes, Bilstein shocks and H&R Springs.

The listing notes that the GT40 is estimated to sell from $225,000 to $275,000, though what do you think it will end up selling for?
