Wish you had the chance to drive your classic car the way you’ve always wished you could through Carolinas’ finest mountain switchbacks? That’s the whole idea behind our Classic Motorsports Smoky Mountain Tour, part of the Hagerty Touring Series.
The highlight of day 4? Getting the chance to drive the 32.7-mile stretch of road known as “The Rattler,” the longer, more thrilling and less crowded cousin of the “Tail of the Dragon.”
The first stop on the route was Mount Mitchell State Park, where tour participants got to enjoy the breathtaking views from the highest point east of The Mississippi.
Then it was back on the road for a bit before stopping for lunch at a popular destination for drivers and travelers along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the quaint town of Little Switzerland.
Bellies full, it was then time to take The Rattler all the way to its end in Hot Springs–a small town that features a section of the Appalachian Trail running right through its main street–for a brief stop before heading back to the hotel.
Once back at the host hotel, the guests had their choice of dinner for the night and the opportunity to explore Downtown Asheville on their own.
Stay tuned this week for more updates from this year’s Smoky Mountain Tour, and visit classicmotorsportsroadtours.com to stay up to date on future road tours.
