Building a Headrest From Scratch | Project Tornado Typhoon

Our 1958 Tornado Typhoon needed a headrest. Why? To have something to rest our head on, of course.

Joking aside, a headrest is often a requirement by a number of sanctioning bodies, and we decided to go by the default SCCA specifications: If the headrest isn’t part of the seat, then it needs to have a minimum area of 36 square inches and be capable of withstanding a 200-pound force.

We detail the full build process in this article, though we are confident that anyone can build a sturdy headrest in a few simple steps, even if you can’t weld.
