How to easily replace floor pans | Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite Project

Photography by Chris Tropea

The floor pans on our Bugeye were not terribly rusty, but they weren’t perfect: some corrosion, bashes from off-road excursions and full of holes. So we decided to replace the floor pans.

As this video shows, the process of floor pan replacement is relatively straight forward if not a beginner restoration project. The primary concerns: make sure the car is correctly supported before you attempt this project and to go slow and make sure your new floor pan is exactly in the same position as your original.

Moss Motors has these Bugeye floor pans in stock at a reasonable price of about $170 for each side. And this pan is nearly perfect, except for the gas pedal mount as we had to build a small panel to for the captured nuts.
