So that we could begin the arduous task of reassembly, we asked our paint guy, Tom Prescott, to focus on getting the tub painted first. It would be a long time before we would need the fenders, doors, decklid and hood.
Obviously two-toning the car would take more time and some careful masking, but we just couldn’t resist the fun ‘50s look. As always, the paint and bodywork on our Mercedes was stunning and we were both shocked and pleased with how different the car looked in its new Hellblau PPG two-part paint. The color is totally period-correct.
With the paint done, we carefully dragged our project home and immediately got to work.
