Our 230 S needed some engine TLC.
We removed our engine. (The fuel pump is at the lower left.)
While we’re definitely burning some oil in our tired old engine, we were leaking a lot of it as well by the end of our trip. It turned out to be something simple—as is usually the case. The mechanical fuel pump on the left side of the block had developed a leak around the gasket, and oil began seeping out of this area at an ever-increasing rate.
