Changing the Break-In Oil

With a fresh engine, you want to run non-detergent—usually single weight—break-in oil. For our Mini Cooper S, we used a product specially designed by Millers Oils that is a 30-weight break-in, mineral-based oil.

After the first few hundred miles we changed to their specially formulated 20/50-weight Classic Mini oil.

This oil is supposed to be specially formulated for Minis, which are unique in that the engine and transaxle share the same oil source.
