Super score: Reasonably priced, nicely recovered orignal late Mk 1 optional reclining seats.
The clever Mini set mount system has three positions. We used the rear one to get more leg room.
With the carpet now installed on our project Mini Cooper S, we could start installing our seats. When we bought our car, it came with only one original Mini Cooper seat.
We were lucky. Soon after purchasing the car we found a beautiful pair of the optional reclining seats at DJ’s Minis. Starting late in 1965, these much more comfortable reclining seats became available from Mini.
The seats we bought had already been restored and recovered, so we only had to find matching material for the back. Mini Mania was able to order us the back seat material and it matched perfectly.
Installing the back seat material is straight forward. It simply clips on and is glued in place.
We painted our front seat brackets with Eastwood Chassis Black paint and installed them with new grade-8 hardware.
The seat mounts on a Mini have three positions, yet another clever feature of these cars. We started in the center position and then quickly moved to the farthest rear position for our six-foot tall driver.
