Jere Dotten gets the harness hooked up to the gauges.
Our original wiring harness had been torn up beyond repair. As we have most likely mentioned, our Mini had been owned by a succession of kids in the seventies, who had added quite a bit to the car. From driving lights, to auxiliary gauges, to stereos, the wiring harness had been hacked up pretty badly.
Fortunately, British Wiring makes harnesses for most popular British cars, including a Mini Cooper. We have used these harnesses before. They are well made and have the exact correct look and feel of the original wiring harness from our Mini.
Of course, Minis were made for forty years, so various ends and wires are required depending on what year and options your car has.
Modifying the harness to fit your application is relatively straight forward, and we quickly figured out what we needed for our Cooper S.
Our wiring guru, Jere Dotten, made short work of installing the new British Wiring harness to our gauges. He tested to make sure everything worked correctly on the way. when this goes back in the car, it will make sorting go much quicker.
