Rebuilding the Power Steering

The car is really coming together now.

The original power steering reservoir was painted with concours-correct metallic blue paint.

Peter Geisler of Orlando Mustang patiently rebuilds the power steering components with a kit from NPD.

We are pleased with the way the car drives, but that infamous Mustang dead spot in the center of the power steering annoys us.

Our Shelby GT 350 power steering system was kept stock, but we rebuilt it with parts from NPD. We hadn’t worked on this type of power steering in a long while, so we asked the guys at Orlando Mustang to walk us through it and rebuild our power steering system for us.

We are pleased with the way the car drives, but that infamous Mustang dead spot in the center of the power steering annoys us. We have heard Borgeson sells a kit with a new steering box that eliminates this problem, so we will most likely try this out and write about it at a later date.

The March issue of Classic Motorsports will contain the engine installation segment of the project. Find out what we did to install a 500-horsepower, 363-cubic-inch Ford Racing V8. Buy the issue today in our online store.
