Alignment Time for the Wagon

Thanks to Geoff Thompson, our wagon now goes down the highway like a prince.

It came time to align our 1975 Pontiac Catalina Safari, so we took it to our local specialist, Geoff Thompson at Andre’s Automotive (phone: (386) 677-5011).

There’s not much to be done with the back—well, other than make sure it’s properly following the front wheels—but the front end is adjustable. Originally we had 3/8 degree negative camber on the left and 3/8 degree of positive camber on the right. In order to compensate for road crown, Geoff basically reversed those two values. The toe is now set at zero. Caster is now 1-7/8 degrees on the right-front and 1-5/8 degrees on the left-front.

He said that the rest of the suspension looked good although, yes, it’s time to replace the dampers. 
As expected, the wagon goes down the highway nicely, especially since we replaced the tires.
