A Day Out With the Porsche

The Orlando Automotive Club hosts a morning gathering on the last Saturday of the month. It's a nice chance to catch up with friends--and also see some cool cars.

Message board regular kabel was also there with his supercharged M coupe. It's beastly.

Call it a mini road trip to the big city of Orlando.

After a week of uneventful, around-town driving with the fresh engine in our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera, we figured it was time to leave the area code. Call it a mini road trip to the big city of Orlando. It’s about an hour each way.

The Orlando Automotive Club hosts a monthly cars and coffee meeting at the Route 46 Entertainment District, and we figured that would make a good destination—see some friends and check out some cars. The whole trip was pretty darn uneventful, just what we expected.

I wanted to see this rebuild in the magazine. This is better than nothing but not what I wanted.

I really want information on rebuilding especially valve guides and seats. My car has about 145K but it still seems strong and does not burn oil. There has been an occasional oily smoke when it sits for several months but no smoke during use. What is the test for replacement?
