Before heading to the Lake Mirror Classic, our Porsche first got a much-needed bath.
We admit it’s not the most metal thing we’ve done, but we welcome a quiet, relaxing day spent among cars and the people who enjoy them.
Given a choice, we’d rather be a participant than a spectator. This coming Saturday, downtown Lakeland, Florida, hosts the Lake Mirror Classic, a concours event that features hundreds of cars. As a bonus, there’s no spectator admission and the lakeside location is very pleasant.
Since we’re going to be on that side of the state Friday evening to see GWAR—easily the cultural event of the year—we figured we’d combine errands and show off our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera.
The first step, of course, is to clean it up. The car got a bath this weekend, and during the week, we’ll continue the work. There’s paint to polish and an interior to detail. Plus, we have some new Griot’s rubber treatment that we’d like to try.
If you’re going to be in or near Lakeland October 20, stop by to say hi. We’ll be in the open car show that fills downtown Lakeland. Looks like we’ll be parked on Massachusetts Avenue, one block off Lake Mirror.
