Brett, when are you going to upload your pic?
I have owned this 1981 X1/9 since 1988. I found the car in south FL and purchased it from a nice English lady who lived the winter in south FL and returned home to Derby GB in the warmer months. She imported the X1/9 from GB in the early 80s on-board the QE2. This was the cruise that recalled the QE2 back to England so that they could use it to transport troops to the Falklands. It is an English spec, right-hand drive car and has been completely tuned to my personal taste and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am currently doing some upgrades and next spring, the X will sport dual DCOE Webers in place of the DCNF set-up. I am also doing a complete custom leather interior. Some of the mods include sway bars front and rear with Jamex springs and Koni struts. I have an original, signed by Al Cosentino, Campy wheels. I personally picked them up at his house and took them on the plane home with me. He said that they were the very last new set of that style of Campy in the country. The interior has been completely upgraded to leather/suede and is much nicer to spend time in than the original Fiat plastic. The engine has multiple updates including an electromotive ignition system, hot cam, dual DCOEs, major head-work, higher compression, header, balanced and lightened flywheel. My X weighs in at around 1900 pounds and handles great. You can see more pics at http://gallery.italiancarclub.com/124og/Bretts_album/
I know this car. Perhaps the most awesome X1/9 this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Every square centimeter of this machine is spectacular in every way.
One of the finest Fiats in the US. Just freaks me out when I see him driving from the passenger side. The only negative I see is that I have not been offered a turn behind the wheel. Love the car and its owner!
Great car. Great modifications. Great wheels. And, while the car is nice it is nothing compared to the owner. Without question one of the nicest guys I have met.
Really a great X. I got to see it close up at the 2005 FFO. Just beautiful.
The car is THE nicest one I've ever seen. I've owned 4 of them myself and this one is truly one of the best if not THE best. Very well matched to the owner indeed because Brett is first class in every way. - John Slagel
Thanks for all of the support. I love cars, all cars! I do, however, have a special soft spot for the Italian underdogs.
Thanks. Even with the twin Webers, I still get over 30mpg on the hwy.
One of the best looking X19's I've seen. And the steering wheel is on the right side! I love the look of the early euro style bumpers on these cars.
Stunning X. I have owned 7 of these, but not one can compare to Bretts. It is a true showpiece...and it gets driven! Not a trailer queen. The X is way under valued and under appreciated. I have owned several British and Italian marques...not one other car in the small sports car genre is as capable, with the only exception being the new Lotus. Thomas Boczan
I love my ride... but I've never seen another with this color combo and it stops me cold whenever I see it. Congrats Brett!
Hey guys, Spring is here and I am looking forward to driving the Fiat. If you see me around town, or on the highway, flag me down and say hi.
Definitely my favorite color combo on an X, Brett. What a beautiful car!
