I'm building a trailer right now and have a set of never used, 23 year old Victoracers, still with the stickers on them, on rims. If they weren't so hard I'd probably use them

What about reading the sidewall scuffing to see if your tire pressures are about right at an autox?

We used shoe polish on a rental car for an autoX once. It wouldn't scrub off so we just spray painted over it.

I've never seen that, although I had a neighbor ask me once if it's safe to run on tires where you can see the belts showing through.
