Sucker cars, velocity stacks and hot pants. Welcome to Road Atlanta in 1970, the first time the facility hosted the Can-Am series.

Who’d win? Likely not who you’d expect.

Thank you for the memory.  I got to see the start of the race from the tower.  I was standing next to my Father-in-law when we heard the sound as they came under the bridge.  What an impressive sound.  He said it was too much for him.  I enjoyed it immensely.  It was the culmination of a dream of making my hobby into my bussiness.  We had not anticipated the traffic jam that would occur both on the roads and when vehicles crossed the bridge so I spent much of the day trying to solve the traffic problems.  I did make it over to congradulate Tony Dean when he got out of the car.
