After waiting in excitement for what may have felt like forever, the Nissan Z Proto is finally here. What better way to celebrate the unveiling of the next-generation prototype than with a look back at the last time Nissan teased a 240Z-inspired concept car: 1999's 240Z Concept.
A quick internet search says that power came from a KA24DE out of a 240SX and, if you look hard enough, you just might be able to see a little bit of the 350Z in it.

That is the car that single-handedly made me blah on the 350z. The concept was 'the right size' (and weight) while a 350z is to me, about 400lbs too big. The 370z was a slight bit of progress by being more aggressive looking and faster and visually bulkier to justify roughly the same weight, but there's just something 'so right' about a 2400-2900 lb sporty car and the concept teased that and made the actual 350z seem a bit fat. The FRSBRZ86mobile got that part dead on. Picture that with 350/370 power levels and you've got exactly what Nissan SHOULD have built.
