What about the Fiat 124 Spider?
It beats all 3 of the British cars with 5-speed, 4-wheel discs, dual overhead cams, one-hand top & I fit in it at 6'6".

Yes. I'm by no means a market expert, but I don't see values going down on a sporty BMW with a convertible top.

Maybe at the time of the story there wasn't a Fiat 124 available to CM. CM and GRM are car people. They like anything with wheels.
