This Hagerty YouTube video offers a deeper dive into one of the many wonders of Japanese car culture: underground car meets.
Some of these meets are spur of the moment, popping up after major events like the Tokyo Auto Salon, or are only lightly publicized on social media. But others are closely guarded secrets between members of specific groups.
If you’re lucky enough to be invited to one of these car meets, be prepared to have your mind blown–not just the cars, but by the people and environment as well.

Not even 10 seconds in, and I'm already hooked.
Side note: I feel particularly honored to have met Larry in person at the Rolex 24 earlier this year.

The last time I was in Japan, I saw so many amazing things but the cars were the icing on the cake. My sister and I even stumbled upon a small meet in a parking garage while exploring Shibuya.
Oh, and check out this newspaper from on base that my folks sent me about a month ago. There are even QR codes for different meets this year in the article.

And now I have this damn song stuck in my head (again). Thanks, Paris.
