The need for speed is a universal concept that translates well into virtually any dialect. A great example are the men and women of Thailand who build turbocharged riverboats for drag racing.
You read that correctly: turbocharged riverboats.
We don't really consider ourselves boat people, but this video is giving us ideas.

I had the opportunity to ride in a very tame version of that in Thailand. It was very very fun and raw. It was a turbo Isuszu rig but it was more like a Mitsu 15g sized turbo sans intercooling. Yes it was dangerous- the Thai people have a fairly relaxed relationship with mortality. Thailand was a joy, the people are fantastic as is the food.

There were a few scenes in the James Bond movie "Man With The Golden Gun" in the '70s that featured one of these boats. No turbo back then but lots of Bond antics.
