The seller calls this “one of the most historic factory 906s,” and with good reason–it won its class during the 1966 Daytona 24.
Prior to Daytona, this Porsche was the prototype used to reveal the 906 to the public. It’s also the first 906 to compete for a championship.
At Daytona, Hans Herrmann and Herbert Linge drove it to a sixth-place overall finish, which was good enough for the win in the class of cars under 2000cc in displacement. Herrmann would go on to earn Porsche its first overall victory at Daytona with a 917 in 1970, with Linge remaining the only German to win Tour de Corse, doing so in 1960.
Find this 1966 Porsche 906K up for auction at The Six - Racing Cars Auction, with an estimated winning bid of €1,000,000-€2,000,000 (approximately $1,075,100-$2,150,200).
