A Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica with authentic, pre-war parts

There are movie replicas, and then there are replicas with a more authentic feel. Consider this the latter. This car uses actual pre-war parts, including a 1924 Packard chassis and a 5-liter, 6-cylinder Studebaker engine.

The car’s inspiration came from the 1968 film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” In the movie, Caractacus Potts, played by Dick Van Dyke, transforms a dilapidated winning race car into a roadworthy vehicle that eventually flies and saves the day.

The creator of this real-life replica paid close attention to the details from the movie, but with “some tweaks to improve aesthetics.” However, the seller admits that while it is “fully functioning and roadworthy,” it is “not airworthy.” Bummer.

Find this 1933/2018 Packard Special “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” up for auction at H&H Classics, with an estimated winning bid of £160,000-£180,000 (approximately $207,712-$233,676).

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is still one of my mother's favorite films. I fondly remember watching it a lot when I was a kid.

James Bond for kids. :)  Actually, I like the movie better than Ian Fleming's novel.  But I like most of the Bond movies better than the novels as well.
