James Radley earned a name for himself in the early 1910s with wins in airplanes, balloons and Rolls-Royces. That made him the perfect person to prepare a Rolls-Royce Phantom I for a king with a need for speed, King Mohammed V of Morocco.
King Mohammed V owned the car from 1925 to 1932. Rolls-Royce enthusiast Michael Forrest found the car in the early 1980s and set out to restore it.
Forrest’s “pursuit of perfection” ended with his passing. The current custodian of the vehicle finally finished the restoration in 2023. While the seller admits the documentation is “minimal,” the Ambassador of the Embassy of the King of Morocco in London did confirm the car’s royal lineage in 1985.
