Is the first in the series always the best? The Aston Martin DB2 makes a compelling case against that idea. Following the earlier 2-Litre Sports (retrospectively known as the DB1), the DB2 helped establish Aston Martin as a maker of some of the finest grand touring cars money could buy.
This 1952 DB2, chassis LML/50/95, was delivered new in Leeds, England in early March of 1952. Within the following year, the Aston Martin was factory updated to Vantage specification that bumped power from 105 horsepower to 125 horsepower.
In 1980, the DB2 reportedly underwent a “thorough mechanical overhaul and engine rebuild,” followed later by a “nut-and-bolt restoration” completed in the early 2000s that returned the car to original specifications.
